Evaluation

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

From looking at interviews such as this in q magazine i relised the best thing to include on my double page spread was an interview.

As an interview was the predominantley used featured on a double page spread,i decided i should conduct an interview on my own double page spread, it was a good idea to deconstruct double pages,
front covers, and contents pages as it enabled my to find ouyt what the key features were in a muysic magazine.

This is part of my double page spread, this is part of the interview included, i included an interview as it was a predominantly used feature.

The maine colour scheme used on the front covers of music magazines are block colours, this enables the main featured bands to stand out, which is proabley the main reason block colours are used.

I used black as my main colour as it enabled the band to stand out and to be easily recognised from the background.

For my front cover i used a black backgound this was good because it enabled the main band to stand out and to become the predominant image on the cover.

This is my front cover, as you can see the background used is plain black, this allows the band to stand out and also for the featured articles to stand out too.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media product uses bright colour for the text used, and also the pictures have been edited so they are bright, this is good because it stands out against the black of the background, this gives an edge to the magazine and also gives it a young and youthful feel to the magazne.

I have included stories in my magazine that fits the target audience and also what i feel will attract my target audience to my magazine.

What kinds of media institution might distribute your media product and why? As my magazine is aimed at teenager/young adults, that are interested in indie music, i would stock the magazine at all major newsagents, i would also stock the magazine at music shops, this would enable the magazine to be available to a wider range of music loving people who are interested in indie.

I would also allow the magazine to be stocked atr indivual music stores, this would enable people with a particular desireed taste in music to also have acess to it, this would mean the shopw owuld have to request to stock the magazine, this would be good as you could keep a track of the readers.

The magazine would also be available off of its own website where readers could subscribe and order the magazine, it would also be sold at smaller and large indie festivals and gigs.

Who would be the audience for your media product? I believe the audience for my magazine would be teenages and young adults who enjoyed indie msuic. This would be a good target audience as the predominant music magazine buyers are teenagers and young adults, this is a good traget audieence as it makes my magazine available to a lrage group of people.

How did you attract/address your audience?
My target audience for my music magazine was die music fans, who were teenagers-young adults, i attracted these by using my main colou as black and using pinks and yellows and other bright colours, this gave my magazine a youthful feel, and also it still felt like a music magazine.

The vocab i have used is fairly modern, casual and youthful vocab, this appeals to the younger side of my audience eg the teenage side, the vocab used is also still very afficent and standard, this appeals to the older end of my target audience eg young adults.

I hve used a interview on my double page, this asks several questions that you may not know the answers to, and other magazines mya not dare to ask some of the questions and gte such in depth replies, this is good because it adds some excitment and amzment to the magazine, this attracts the teeenagers to the magazine.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I learnt that technologie can be quite temprimental, but once you understand how to use one programme, it becomes easier to get to grips with using different programmes, as most editing programme are very similar, and are easy to use.

I found takeing the photos easy as i ahve my own camera and camera phone so i was able to take several different photos, it wa also easy for me to upload the pictures, as i had done this before and new how to do this.

I found using publisher to produce my magazine asy, as i had used this in school before, so was awre how to use this, and how to layer and put products together, this helped me during my coursework as i already new how to use this programme.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

i have learnt how to use imagae editing programess such as GIMP and microsoft offiice picture manage

r, and also learnt how to use paint, by using these programmes i have been able to cut out the main image from a picture to use as a background, this has enables me to cut out any picture i like and place it on any background i like, this enables the main image to stand out, and to be the main featured of the page.

This is the image after i have cropped it, i was then able to chage the colour of background of my cover easily on publisher, i could tjhen place this edited image on top, and it would be able to stand out from the background.

In the preliminary task i did not know how to do this, so instead i used a whole image as my background and did not edit or transform the image, in my real contents and cover i was more aware of editing the photos so i was able to edit the colour and contrast, i was alo able to crop the background out of the images.
